Susan Tran Adams of Tran Singh LLP Selected as One of ABI's 2024 "40 Under 40"

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Susan Tran Adams of Tran Singh LLP (Houston) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s award program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on Dec. 13 during ABI’s 2024 Winter Leadership Conference at The Phoenician Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Tran Adams is a founding partner of Tran Singh LLP, a boutique restructuring law firm in Houston that specializes in assisting financially distressed individuals and small business owners through in- and out-of-court restructurings. She represents individuals in chapter 7, 13 and 11 bankruptcies, with a particular focus on representing individuals in subchapter V bankruptcies. She also has been engaged as conflicts counsel in several complex matters in the Southern District of Texas. Since 2018, Tran Adams has been certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both business and consumer bankruptcy. Prior to forming Tran Singh LLP, she was a summer associate with Strasburger and Price, LLP in Dallas. During her third year of law school, Tran Adams competed in the annual ABI/St. John’s University School of Law Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition. Participating in this competition inspired her to co-found her firm with a fellow competitor and law school classmate. She and her partner managed to save a significant portion of the earnings from their clerkships to help fund the start-up costs of the new law firm.

Tran Adams has been honored in Texas Super Lawyers and has been named a “Rising Star” in Texas Monthly every year since 2019 in the category of consumer bankruptcy. In 2024, she was named one of Texas Monthly’s “Top 50 Up-and-Coming Women Attorneys” and “Top 100 Up-and-Coming Attorneys.” She also has been named a “Houston Top Attorney” by Houstonia in the category of bankruptcy and was featured in The Best Lawyers in America as one of its “Ones to Watch” from 2021-23 in the category of Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights/Insolvency. Since 2018, Tran Adams has been a member of the executive committee of the Houston Association of Young Bankruptcy Lawyers (HAYBL) and Moller-Foltz Inn of Court, and she has been elected chair of the Houston Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section for 2025. In addition, since 2019 she has served on the Texas Board of Legal Specialization’s Selection Committee, which oversees applications for certification exams.

Tran Adams is a strong believer in providing services to those in need of assistance by giving back to the community through volunteer projects and providing pro bono legal services through the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program and Lone Star Legal Aid. In 2023, her law firm received the Small Law Firm Pro Bono Award from Lone Star Legal Aid for providing more than $100,000 in debt-relief services to the Houston community.

“We are honored to celebrate the exceptional leaders within the 2024 class as they continue to make a significant impact both in their practice and in their communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “As bankruptcy practice continues to evolve, this diverse collection of honorees will propel ABI and the insolvency community forward.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Now in its eighth year, the goal of ABI’s “40 Under 40” award program is not simply to create a one-time ceremony, but to fully engage those selected as future leaders in the insolvency profession and to build on the initiative each year.
