Michael Papandrea of Lowenstein Sandler LLP Selected as One of ABI's 2024 "40 Under 40"
Alexandria, Va.— ABI announces that Michael Papandrea of Lowenstein Sandler LLP (Roseland, N.J.) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s award program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on Dec. 13 during ABI’s 2024 Winter Leadership Conference at The Phoenician Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Papandrea is counsel with Lowenstein Sandler LLP in Roseland, N.J., where he provides counsel to debtors, creditors’ committees, liquidating trustees, trade creditors, institutional investors and other interested parties with respect to corporate bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters, including bankruptcy-related litigation. He also has helped trade creditors have a voice in policy with respect to the Bankruptcy Code, having guided those in the trade that were interviewed by and provided their views on subchapter V to ABI’s Subchapter V Task Force.
Papandrea often presents at industry events on bankruptcy, insolvency and creditors’ rights-related topics for groups such as the National Association of Credit Management (NACM), National Group Management Corp., Credit Research Foundation (CRF) and the Federation of Credit and Financial Professionals. He also writes articles about bankruptcy and the credit and risk-management space on a regular basis through those same outlets — particularly in NACM’s newsletters and in Business Credit and eNews. Papandrea has been named one of the “Ones to Watch” by The Best Lawyers in America since 2021 in its Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law section, and he is listed as a “New Jersey Rising Star” in Super Lawyers for 2023 and 2024, recognized for his work in Creditor/Debtor Rights. He also was an ABI Medal of Excellence recipient.
Papandrea co-manages his department’s pro bono efforts, volunteers as a summer associate mentor virtually every summer, provides orientation programs to new associates and summer associates, and serves as “team lead” on the firm’s Law School Ambassador Committee, where he is responsible for managing the firm’s relationship with Rutgers Law School. He also is heavily involved in the New Jersey Bankruptcy Lawyers Foundation (NJBLF), having served on its NextGen Committee and co-chaired its annual golf and tennis outing for two years.
“We are honored to celebrate the exceptional leaders within the 2024 class as they continue to make a significant impact both in their practice and in their communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “As bankruptcy practice continues to evolve, this diverse collection of honorees will propel ABI and the insolvency community forward.”
The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Now in its eighth year, the goal of ABI’s “40 Under 40” award program is not simply to create a one-time ceremony, but to fully engage those selected as future leaders in the insolvency profession and to build on the initiative each year.
