Alexandria, Va.— ABI announces that Elliot Crowder of Stevenson & Bullock, P.L.C. (Southfield, Mich.) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s award program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on Dec. 13 during ABI’s 2024 Winter Leadership Conference at The Phoenician Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Crowder is an attorney with Stevenson & Bullock, P.L.C. in Southfield, Mich., where he regularly serves as lead counsel for complex bankruptcy and insolvency matters, including the representation of debtors, creditors and fiduciaries in a variety of insolvency matters. He frequently counsels clients in chapter 11 matters, including those under subchapter V, in the areas of manufacturing, real estate, health care, distressed auto suppliers and retail, among others. Crowder also represents liquidating trustees and other court-appointed fiduciaries, including receivers and assignees for the benefit of creditors, in insolvency matters across the State of Michigan.
Crowder is regularly recognized for his practice, being named one of DBusiness’s Top Lawyers in Bankruptcy & Creditor-Debtor Rights Law since 2022 and regularly listed as a “Michigan Rising Star” in Michigan Super Lawyers since 2014. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the New York State Bar Association, ABI, the Consumer Bankruptcy Association of the Eastern District of Michigan, the Turnaround Management Association, and the Brother Rice Business Alliance, a nonprofit that provides career guidance and opportunities to students, alumni, parents, business members and others affiliated with Brother Rice High School. Crowder also is a co-vice chair of the Debtor/Creditor Rights Committee for the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
While in law school, Crowder was a legal intern with the University of Detroit Mercy Veteran’s Law Clinic, through which he helped numerous clients resolve medical, financial and personal issues with the Veterans Administration, and trained lawyers throughout Michigan, Nashville, Tenn., and Cleveland on the intricacies of laws affecting veterans. Outside of the office, he has helped students from local law schools prepare for the Walter Shapero Cup Regional Moot Court Competition, and in 2022, Crowder served as a judge in the competition. In 2023, he coached a team from Wayne State University, which landed in first place. In 2024, he served as a guest coach for the Wayne State University team.

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Now in its eighth year, the goal of ABI’s “40 Under 40” award program is not simply to create a one-time ceremony, but to fully engage those selected as future leaders in the insolvency profession and to build on the initiative each year.
